Key Stage 3/4 activities

Pupils are asked to plan a Big Lunch for a community group. In preparation for the challenge they carry out taste tests and combine flavours to establish the features of a good menu. Pupils work in groups to practice planning meals for different community gatherings. They draw on this learning to plan, prepare and hold a Big Lunch for their community group and evaluate all aspects of the event including the menu design, food quality, venue layout, entertainment and budget. These activities and resources offer a challenge-based approach to learning in design and technology (food) or as part of a cross-curricular extension or enrichment programme.
